I went to a classic game store in Odessa, Tx this weekend and picked up some Master System games. I have been to the store before, but I have never bought anything from them before this weekend. As I was looking at their selection I noticed that they had quite a bit of Master System games on the rack. Actually they had more Master System games than Genesis games.
I picked up Lord of the Sword, Kenseiden, Monopoly, Shanghai, Great Football, Penguin Land, Pro Wrestling, SpellCaster, and Great Baseball all CIB. I also picked up River Raid cart only for the 5200 for a grand total of 80 dollars. Not knock your shoes off prices, but what I would consider good prices. They still had quite a bit more Master System games that I either already had or were not CIB. They did have a Montezuma's Revenge CIB for $26.99 which I would consider a very good price for that one.
I also grabbed Michael Jackson's Moonwalker and Dick Tracy CIB off of ebay this week so this have been a great Master System week.

Wow! That is lucky. I can only find a few games when I visit any stores, and always the ones that everyone already has, or i should say the more common games.

I considered also picking up Zillion II cart only, but decided to go ahead and wait for a CIB copy. They also had Miracle Warriors CIB with the map too. That is the first time I have ever seen the map outside of ebay (which is where I got mine). Unfortunately all my gaming stuff is in storage right now so it will be a while before I get to play them.

I still have my Miracle Warriors map. I had it laminated so it has been with me for a long time.

I hardly ever see SMS stuff around here, but the last time I was at the game store, I snagged Ghostbusters and I saw Hang On/Safari Hunt but didn't buy it 'cause my console has those two built in. Now I'm wondering if I should have bought it for collection purposes. If it's still there when I go back, I might.

They do seem rare. I must admit that I see them very infrequently and even then in the more prominent game stores. The local shop we have in town, the owner had never heard of the Sega Master System before.

I went into an FX Game Exchange in Bastrop, TX one time and asked if they had Master System stuff and the two teenagers working had never heard of a Master System. On the other hand the same guy who owned that FX owns the one in Early, TX and I went in there about two weeks ago and the guy working that day was pretty knowledgeable about the older stuff. Speaking of that trip, I forgot I picked up a Master System Control Stick for five or ten bucks just two weeks ago.

in the Orlando area, SMS games are considered diamonds in the rough since not many retro shops have SMS games. The one place i'm lucky with in finding various SMS games is in the many game booths at Flea World over in Sanford.

Game Over Videogames (which was featured in one of our videos) is the only place here in Houston, TX that really deals in Sega Master System games. Finding SMS games in the "wild" is insanely hard these days. Pawn shops and yard sales have been dried up by collectors for years.

It's the same here in the UK. There are a few retro shops here and there but the prices there are matched to internet prices and they all know about ebay. I started collecting before people knew about ebay and I used to get a ton of games for £1 each. Still, prices aren't too bad on ebay but I miss the thrill of finding decent treasures in the wild.

Anytime I am in Houston I stop at Game Over to see if any new SMS games have appeared. No much in terms of movement.

There's a few places in Chicago to buy them at a reasonable price with pretty good rotating selection but in the wild...forget it, at least for me. I think everyone brings them to one of the local shops. One shop got 2 complete Genesis M.U.S.H.A's, a never opened Pokemen N64 and a boxed Chubby Cherub IN ONE DAY. Makes me crazy thinking about it, especially since the sellers probably got 30% of the actual worth.

In riverside county in california there is M&M games but they seem to be in the game trade business just for the money, but plus side is they don't know how much a lot of there master system games are worth I picked up miracle warriors complete with map for five bucks. Then in San Diego county there is Luna games which they know there prices and are fair about what you will pay for them the customer service is awesome and the people that work there actually like and play video games so they know what you are talking about.
Other then that craigslist that is where I found my sms with fourteen games for forty bucks.

Well over here in the north west of england we have a couple of options 1. cash generator/cash converters- bit of a gamble if they will have anything/how much they will charge. all are franchises so attitudes to old stuff varies. got my sms and most of the games i have from there. 2. proper retro sellers- either ebay or a few independent places, most know what to charge 3. charity shops- old stuff is rare here, I got some ps1/ps2 bargains the other week
