The master System is region free as far as I know.

The master System is region free as far as I know. There are a few exceptions: Back to the Future Part II, The Jungle Book, and 007: The Duel are known not to work with NTSC master systems.

Xenon 2 runs but runs at like 2 frames per minute and people always say Jungle Book but I have it and it runs perfectly...guess I'm just lucky

There are a couple points on the circuit board(s) where one can solder a switch to change video modes. I believe this helps in some cases. There's even a pin on one of the chips that can be switched between ground/float (at least on the SMS 1) that allow one to change between Japanese and US/AU/EU regions for extra fun.
