Hi everyone, I'm J. I'm 39, and originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, but I currently live in the American Mid-West. I'm a licensed tattooist and piercing artist and run a small tattoo studio with my significant other. I've been a gamer since the late 70's. My first console was the Heavy Sixer Atari 2600, which at the time was the 'family console'.
I grew up in the arcades of the 80's -- I mean, I spend a LOT of time in them -- and gaming remains my main hobby still, though I tend to collect more than I actually play these days. The SEGA Master System is more or less tied with the TurboGrafx-16 (more specifically, the Turbo Duo) as my favorite console of all time, for nostalgic reasons, of course. I had both a Master System and an NES back when the hardware was current, but I enjoyed my SMS far more than my NES, which I also loved, but never really supported in it's hey day. I cut a lot of lawns and spent every penny of my allowance on SEGA games growing up. I just always enjoyed their licenses and games the most as a kid. Especially Space Harrier, Phantasy Star and Fantasy Zone.
I have a passion for retro gaming, and since I never sell or trade-in my old games (that I enjoy), I've amassed a decent collection of consoles and games over the past 20+ years, acquiring a few rare rare and uncommon items here and there; but I'm no treasure hunter. I'm a very frugal gamer, and only purchase games I think I'll enjoy and plan on actually playing, and always for a bargain.
I have a dedicated gaming room set up in my attic which is where I spend most of my free time. It houses most of my consoles, games and collectibles.
It's interesting to see that there are other Godzilla aficionados here. I'm also a Godzilla fan (I especially love Mothra), though I don't actually own any merchandise besides a few films in VHS format. I may consider getting into collecting Godzilla and Mothra merchandise in the future.

Hello from Arkansas. Shannon here found the site after seeing the post on another Sega forum with the Chrismas games unboxing. My SMS collection is rather small but I have to say The 3D glasses are awesome! I have a couple systems and less than 20 sms games 5 of which are the 3d ones.

Hi I am Andy, from manchester in England, if you know me online you probably know me as flatapex as I use that name on sega8bit, retrogamer, retrocollect, vgcollect etc, oh and I have had comments featured in retro gamer magazine a few times as well (and a letter printed in the latest issue)
I work as a specialist treatment assessor for spinal surgery, here in the uk medical insurance is only for those with deep pockets or an employer with deep pockets, a lot of what i do is translating what neurosurgeons, trauma surgeons and pain management specialists say into something the rest of the world can understand, it isnt an interesting job it just pays for my retro gaming habits and my wedding which takes place in July.
I collect mostly for the master system, I have about 50 ms games, about 40 ps2 games about 20 ps1 games and odds and ends of other things

Hey - It's Brendan. I'm 26. I'm from a very famous city in New England.
I've been playing video games since 1992. I was into games of all systems; it was exciting to try new stuff. I grew up playing NES and 2600 as a kid, wanting a Genesis (my cousins all had it, and I also had a misguided belief that all arcade games known to man including Konami XMEN were available on Genesis), but 1994 made me choose Super NES which I eventually bought in 1995. My first SEGA game system was a Nomad in 1997, which I played the crap out of. I really got into collecting in 2001, when I found a Master System at a recently-opened video game store in my town (I think I found this site that same week). I bought it with a few games for $30. It was a great day, especially because I had also been un-grounded that same day. I continued collecting games from all over the world, including Japan. I believe I had about 90 total cartridges. I always got the most satisfaction from beating the the hardest games.
I began to thin out my collection in 2011 and by the end of Summer 2012, I had sold off my game collection because I really wanted more space, time, and easier cleanliness/organization.
I still love to play games and will continue to defend video games as a primary source of my inspirations.
