Just wanted to make general Atari 2600 and up thread. Love the Atari. Favorite games? Favorite homebrews? Favorite Atari console? Of course my favorite is the 2600. Grew up with this thing mostly after my dad got it for me at a flea market. I spend many hours killing braincells with those beautiful 2600 pixels while everyone else was playing their Nintendos and what have you.

Adventure was cool, but I think I wasn't patient enough as a kid to really get into it. My favorites are Kaboom, Missile Command, and Air Sea Battle.

I remember first playing Atari at my grandma's house when I was five and being scared by Haunted House. Still one of my favorite 2600 games.

LOVE my Atari 2600. Also have the 7800 and Atari XE Computer (Which was like a game console with computer add ons.)
Actively collected Atari games years ago. Probably have over 100 games, most notably the hard to find Texas Chainsaw Massacre by Wizard Games.
My favorite Atari game is either Pitfall 2 or Moon Patrol. I could play those games for hours on end and never get board. Other favorites include Crystal Castles on the XE and Congo Bongo (A Sega classic!)
In answer to the thread question, I have NOT played my Atari today but I think I will now!

Anyone here played Raiders of the Lost Ark on this Atari 2600? I had a great time playing it when I was younger. I remember beating the game, but I can't remember how.

Pretty much the home console that sparked my interest in video games, my friend had one and well as another of the neighborhood kids and I was over there for hours at a time. Played a lot of HERO and Adventure, among others that I can't recall.
When I persuaded my father to get me something similar we went for the upgraded Atari 5200 instead which as most know did not exactly take off and those controllers were terrible. Regardless having a perfect port of Pac-Man was pretty sweet at the time. Also had Galaxian, Dig Dug, and eventually Pole Position. I remember my dad saying to me when picking up the system in the store if I wanted any other games in addition but I was so infatuated with Pac-Man at the time the opportunity went right over my head.

Galaxian, Dig Dug, and Pole Position are so great. ShinobiMan, deciding to play your Atari today is a great decision. lol My collection of 2600 games started out as two black trash bags full of loose carts that a friend of my brothers didn't want. Most have gotten lost over the years with how much we move, nice collectors item with Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Jessie I remember playing the crap out of that game, the weird thing about it is, from what I remember is the weird menu system because it involves using both controllers if I'm not mistaken. But I love that game.

Galaxian is probably my favourite game on the system. But seeing as I've probably only played 0,1% of all the 2600 games, that probably isn't saying much I bought H.E.R.O. last month. First 2600 buy in over a year I think. I played it at a friends and thought it was amazing. A solid number 2 on the list.

You must get Air Sea Battle and Combat if you want to know what it's like to see new colors.

Make sure you have someone to play with, though. Combat is multiplayer only. Actually, I always wondered why they made that the pack-in game. If you were a single guy in 1977 and you bought this new-fangled Atari contraption only to find out you couldn't play the game that came with it, I imagine you'd be pretty soured on it, right?
